WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE HURT OR OFFENDED BY OTHERS?

We will be offended in this world where everyone has differing opinions. It is hard not to fight back when we are angry or feel attacked for our beliefs. We will meet people who will challenge us, and yet they still show love. And we will meet people who do not show love. We can all strive to be more loving even though we may not agree. When we do not have gentle words to say, it is best to just be silent and pray. Jesus says we are to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Peace will invade our lives when we look to love and not to hate. The Holy Spirit will always surround us with grace and peace when we let go of our bitterness and hate and let His love in our hearts.

Have you felt under attack? Has someone offended you by their actions or words so much that you are harboring bitterness and hate inside of you? Jesus felt this attack right to the core of His being, yet He still loved. He was mocked, persecuted, hated, questioned, accused and then CRUCIFIED! He suffered the greatest penalty of all for your sins so that you could be free! He sacrificed all as proof that He loves you. He wants you to love and not to hate. He asks you to forgive and love your enemies and pray for them as He has forgiven and prayed for you. Some of His last dying words on the cross were for you, “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.” You are forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ!

Dear Lord,

Thank You for forgiving me! You sacrificed all so that I could be set free from all of my sins as I have trusted You as my Lord and Savior. I have sinned and fallen short of Your glory and need Your forgiveness and love. I know that Your Spirit will guide me into all truth. You say in

MATTHEW 5:44, “LOVE YOUR ENEMIES AND PRAY FOR THOSE WHO PERSECUTE YOU.”

This is not a challenge but a command that you know will bring me peace and freedom. All of Your words are for my good and not for harm. You want the very best for me and so I will trust you and obey as You instruct me to pray. I pray for my enemies and those who have hurt or offended me. Help us all draw closer to love today! I love you, Jesus, my Lord and Savior!
